There are six pilot projects in various phases:

(a) Kolkata: Shyamal Chatterji (IITKGP 68) has started a pilot project with ITI in Tollygunge. He has been invited to join the Institute Management Committee. PanIIT Pacific Northwest chapter has recently pledged financial support to this project.

(b) Thane : Two teams led by Dr. Arun Shah (IITR 72) and Bhalachandra Vishwanath (IITB 84) have visited ITIs in Thane. Dr. Arun Shah has also initiated the effort to define a world class curriculum on welding. Vijay Talele (IITB) of Kale Consultants is the chairman of Institute Management Committee.

(c) Pune Ranjan Kumar has put together a 15 strong and diverse team in Pune. We have support from the Maharashtra govt to start work at any of the 700 odd ITIs in Maharashtra as soon as we want. Sushama Joshi IITKGP 72 is the pioneer member of the program and has visited the showcase ITI at Aundh.

(d) Jaipur: Ravindra Kumar IITD 87 has initiated interaction with the ITI in Jaipur.

(e) Bhopal: Ajay Kumar IITD 72 has initiated interaction with an ITI along with members of another NGO called Consultus.

(f) Surat: Sankar Biswas IITKGP 81 and Dr. B.C. Naidu IITKGP 58 have initiated interaction with an ITI along with 3 other members of the local PanIIT chapter.

In several other cities, several members have expressed interest in initiating the projects:

Chennai: Radhakrishnan Pillai IITK 74 has expressed interest in engaging with a local ITI

Hyderabad: RRV Reddy IITM 66? has independently started engaging with some of the local ITIs.

Bangalore: Gaurav Vaish IITK 2002 has expressed interest in initiating a project with some of the local ITIs.

Other cities: Chandrasekhar Seth in Mangalore, Dr. Pradeep Mishra in Varanasi, Niru Mohan Biswas in Noida are also looking for opportunities to initiate the projects.
