Using the project management website
The communication facilities of this project management site, which is based
on
basecamp,
are truly easy-to-use. The program launch team encourages the use of the
built-in feature called messages. Use of messages replaces the need for using
the e-mail. At the same time, it is integrated with the e-mail. Secondly, the
site also allows the team to share files and maintains their versions.
Further, the site also has the basic elements of a project management tool
with to-do lists and milestones. The usage about Project management site is
supported by PanIIT collaboration team led by Ashutosh Sanzgiri (IITB '89).
The team encourage you to view the
basecamp
online videos that explain how to use the features such as messages.
Please note that it is a password protected website. By requiring a login,
it prevents spam/junk, provides privacy for sensitive information such as
phone numbers and prevents raw information for the work in progress from
spilling out. It also highlights the people who are doing the work. Finally,
it also restricts access to different sections of the website which allows
for focused interaction.
The project management website has a separate project website for each ITI
project and for each of the major activities.

The primary purpose of the program library is to enables sharing of
documents that are relevant to all of the active project teams. But
since it is also the most visited site, (all active program team members
have access to it), you can post a message on it to get it across to all
the members. So this is a good starting point for getting a sense of
what is going on in the program.

of the major activities.

This project site is for collaboration among the program launch team
members for the foundational and definitional work such as:

planning program launch,

government and industry support etc.
This work also includes definitional work such as charter and mission
formulation.
Alumni
outreach
This project is to consolidate the efforts to gain the mindshare of
the alumni. This effort is geared towards generating a buzz about the
program among the IITians, and to get them excited to join the program
team.

Partnerships
Currently this effort is focused on enabling collaboration between
Community colleges in USA and industrial training institutes in India.

development
The charter of Partnerships development team is to liaison with IITs and
Private training institutes in India. This team will work with Program
President to generate ideas on how partnerships with L&T, NIIT, iWatch
etc. can be leveraged for marketing our program, to explore collaboration
opportunities, to remain close to relevant professionals and ultimately to
contribute to the training programs.
The role of the Government Liaison team is to Liaison with central and
state government to generate awareness among ITI administrators and to get
the needed permissions so that program team members can join the institute
management committees of ITIs.
